Is Acupuncture Safe Post-Covid? 4 Things Your Acupuncturist Wants You to Know Before You Book Your Appointment

Is Acupuncture Safe Post-Covid? 4 Things Your Acupuncturist Wants You to Know Before You Book Your Appointment

To say that 2020 was a stressful year is putting it mildly.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, many people put checkups and other medical procedures on hold, including acupuncture treatments.  If you are more than ready to get back to your treatments, here are four things I want you to know about my safety procedures in this new normal.  And if this does not answer all your questions, please feel free to ask.  It is important to me that you feel safe and secure as you return for your first appointment.

Local Laws and Ordinances

One thing to keep in mind is that my office and I must follow certain local or state mandates to be open.  These requirements include specific safety protocols that we now have to adhere to, such as wearing masks all the time and taking temperatures as part of our check-in procedure. Some of these changes might be inconvenient, but they are being done for all of our safety and security.

Clean and Disinfected

Many of these now standard protocols include air purifiers and cleaning of the treatment room and common areas with hospital-grade disinfectant.  You may see additional procedures such as extra time between appointments to disinfect the room and prepare for the next treatment.

Booking an Appointment and Checking In

The booking process has changed a bit thanks to COVID as well.  For example, you will receive online communication on what to expect when you arrive for your first visit.  If there are already people in the waiting room, I may ask you to text me from your car, so I can be waiting at the front desk to bring you straight in when you arrive.  It is preferred (although not necessary) that you fill out intake forms online prior to your appointment.  Please wear your mask when you’re going to and from the treatment room, but you’re welcome to take it off during the intake and treatment if you’d like.

Safety of Your Acupuncturist

I will be wearing a mask when I see you. I’m seeing patients throughout the day, so I’ll still still maintain a few feet distance between us while we’re talking, both to minimize your risk and that of my four-year-old daughter at home.  Please do not take these changes personally and know that I am doing my best to keep everyone I care for safe and healthy.  During the treatment and when I am taking your pulse, I will obviously need to be close enough to touch you 🙂

I am beyond happy to have you back and ready to help bring balance and health to your life through the power of Traditional Medicine!  I appreciate your willingness to go with the flow and follow the safety precautions we’ve put in place.  Make your appointment today!  Questions are welcomed!
